JAKARTA, 25 November 2023 – The largest cinema chain in Indonesia, PT Nusantara Sejahtera Raya Tbk (Cinema XXI), is committed to facilitating Indonesian people with limitations to enjoy good quality movies in the cinemas. This commitment was well demonstrated when Cinema XXI hosted the “Trolls Band Together” movie screening for children fighting cancer under the supervision of the Indonesian Care for Cancer Kids Foundation (YKAKI) at Metropole XXI, Central Jakarta, Saturday (25/11/2023).
On top of being part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the "Trolls Band Together" movie screening was also a concrete manifestation of Cinema XXI's commitment to strengthening moviegoing habits in the cinema. This activity also aligns with Cinema XXI's commitment to making cinema a second home to spend quality time with family and friends.
"Cinema XXI hopes to provide a fun and memorable moviegoing experience for the children fighting cancer. Hopefully, this experience can bring happiness and encouragement to help them fight cancer. We also hope this movie screening will be one of Cinema XXI's positive contributions to the people of Indonesia," explained Dewinta Hutagaol, Head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management Cinema XXI.
“Treating children with cancer is time-consuming and exhausting, both for the patients and their parents/caregivers. This movie screening is very helpful to momentarily distract them from their routine therapy and help boost their spirits to recover. This activity is also a cherished experience for the children because it offers a rare and precious opportunity for them,” said Ira Soelistyo, YKAKI Founder/ Chairwoman.
YKAKI is an independent social foundation that focuses on helping children who fight cancer, especially from underprivileged families in Indonesia. Not only helping the children to get the best treatment and care, YKAKI also strives for their right to learn and play properly. The foundation, which was established in 2006, has also been an active member of the international cancer parent organization Childhood Cancer International (CCI) since 2008.
Through this screening activity, 17 children including 2 survivors and 21 caregivers under YKAKI joyfully watched the "Trolls Band Together" movie. This movie is a sequel to "Trolls World Tour" that was released in 2020. Meanwhile, the prequel to the two animated films is "Trolls" that released in 2016. The movie was inspired by the trolls doll characters by Danish woodworker Thomas Dam. The animated film made by DreamWork Animations tells the story of a life in a magical world inhabited by colorful little creatures who are always cheerful and help each other. They love to sing, dance, and hug each other.
The movie revolves around the true friendship of Troll characters named Poppy and Branch. Poppy, who is the leader of the world of trolls, finally learns the secret that Branch was once part of the boy band, BroZone, with his brothers: Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay. When Floyd is kidnapped, Branch and Poppy go on a journey to reunite the other brothers to save Floyd.
